*PLEASE NOTE* Creating a mezzotint plate properly can take a long time, therefore
students should understand that the workshop will be exploratory in
nature and not necessarily result in finished works.
This short 1 and1/2 day course will focus on both mezzotint techniques and basic and advanced chine colle methods. Participants will develop intaglio plates using a combination of basic etching techniques in combination with mezzotint and/or construct plates using only mezzotint. Once image development is underway and initial proofs have been taken, participants will then be introduced to a variety of chine colle techniques to refine and resolve their images. Throughout the course technical developments will be discussed in the context of individuals aesthetic and conceptual concerns.
Participants will also be encouraged to discuss ideas and content in a
group context so as to encourage conceptual development alongside
technical explorations.
