Open Press Dates!

 

Open Press is an opportunity for printmakers who are already familiar with our studio to get some studio time without committing to a monthly membership. Open press rates are $10/hour and we request a 3-hour minimum.

All Open Press times are Saturdays 10:00am-4:00pm

Shop Mix Print/CD Exchange

Not really a class, but a great Print Exchange for all printmakers to participate in.

Since music is an essential element of printmaking, each participant will create a mix cd and print cd covers. Cover design and structure left to individual creativity and ambition. Each participant will receive a full collection for their personal enjoyment.

Mezzotint and Chine Colle Workshop

*PLEASE NOTE* Creating a mezzotint plate properly can take a long time, therefore students should understand that the workshop will be exploratory in nature and not necessarily result in finished works.

This short 1 and1/2 day course will focus on both mezzotint techniques and basic and advanced chine colle methods. Participants will develop intaglio plates using a combination of basic etching techniques in combination with mezzotint and/or construct plates using only mezzotint. Once image development is underway and initial proofs have been taken, participants will then be introduced to a variety of chine colle techniques to refine and resolve their images. Throughout the course technical developments will be discussed in the context of individuals aesthetic and conceptual concerns.

Participants will also be encouraged to discuss ideas and content in a group context so as to encourage conceptual development alongside technical explorations.

2 BFK sheets white paper
1sheet Kitakata paper
1 sheet Sekishu paper
shared use of one of 7 rockers for the day of the workshop.
(I will have a few rockers will be available for sale e.c.lyons 2'' 85 gauge (2) and 2.5'' 85 gauge (2) )
