Call for Entries

Impressionable is a competitive exhibition organized by Saltgrass Printmakers and hosted by the University of Utah, Art and Art History Department. As a showcase of contemporary printmaking by artists throughout Utah, the Impressionable exhibition will take place in the Gittins Gallery on the campus of the University of Utah.

Eligibility & Media

All artists (18 years and older) working in Utah are eligible to enter. Original works in all printmaking media including monoprints and monotypes, books and mixed media, and three-dimensional prints are eligible. Digital printing as a visual element may be included with traditional print techniques, but straight digital works will not be eligible. We will not consider photographs, offset reproductions, or reproductions of artwork originally produced in another medium. Works must be completed in the last two years.

Juror

Erik Waterkotte is currently a Visiting Assistant Professor at Indiana University and has also taught at Minnesota State University Mankato as an Assistant Professor. He is our Visiting Artist in Residence at Saltgrass for July 2010 (see gallery details here, and class details here)

Waterkotte has shown his mixed-media prints both nationally and internationally including: The Precious Object, Art MN 2009, (S)edition, Prints as Activism, the 2009 China Sanbao International Printmaking Exhibition, the Hong Kong Graphic Arts Festival, the Pacific States Print Biennial at the University of Hawaii-Hilo. His most recent solo-exhibitions were at Saltgrass Printmakers in Salt Lake City, the Printmakers Gallery at Arkansas State University, and the Hemingway Gallery at Boise State University. He has been a visiting artist at several universities throughout the United States and has been the recipient of a Minnesota State Arts Board Emerging Artist Initiative Grant. In addition, Waterkotte has been the editor of the MidAmerica Print Council Journal and has contributed his writing to CHOP print zine published by Malaspina Printmakers in Vancouver, B.C

Exhibition: September 6 – October 1, 2010.

Hand-delivered works will be available for pick up from the Gittins Gallery: October 4 -8, 2010, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
