We’re printing in March to be ready for April’s National Poetry Month!!
This April will be the 25th anniversary of National Poetry Month in the United States. For Saltgrass Printmakers, it will be our 4th annual poetry and letterpress event. During March, we are inviting everyone to come print their very own original poem!
Setting type and printing with the Showcard press is super easy to learn!
We will be on hand to help you compose, set and print your poem. You will leave with your poem printed as a broadside, poster or small postcards.
(Paper size will depend on the type size you choose.)
For health and safety, we will keep the working sessions to two individuals with an instructor on hand to help facilitate. Each session will begin at 11am. Wear a mask. Bring a poem. We will have sanitizer at the door.
There are several sessions available. To register contact Stefanie Dykes at stefanie.dykes822@gmail.com.
Cost per session: $25.00
Available working sessions can be schedule on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturday hours 11:00 am to 3:00 pm each day. $25 includes access to vintage wood and lead letterpress type, ink and paper!
Tuesdays, March 2, 9, 16, 23 & 30
Fridays, March 4, 11, 18, 25
Saturdays, March 6, 13, and 20
Yeah, we’re not poets either!
Don’t know where to start. Try writing a Lune poem.
A Lune poem is an adaptation of the Haiku poem.
Created by poet Robert Kelly, the lune is a 13-syllable, self-contained poem that has 5 syllables in the first line, 3 syllables in the second line and 5 syllable in the final line.
There are no other rules.
