Don’t miss the Utah Arts Festival’s all-new Studio Tour!

The first annual Utah Arts Festival Studio Tour is a free, self-guided art stroll open to the public that will feature 131 local artists working in various mediums throughout Utah. Artists are inviting the public into their studios or workspaces where they can connect, showcase and sell their work.

The new mobile UAF Studio Tour Pass can be downloaded to your phone for free and offers a searchable database of participating studios and artist profiles with an interactive map. Patrons can use their mobile devices to identify studios or hubs and plan their adventures to win prizes. Artist profiles are also available on the Utah Arts Festival website (uaf.org/studio-tour). Various studios and group sites will also hold opening night celebrations on Friday (6p-9p).

Screen Printing with Glass

4 Oct

Instructor: Inez Garcia

Saturday, October 29, Demonstration 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Here we combine two unlikely mediums to show you how to screen print on top of glass with enamels. Some simple modifications to the printing process allow us to dip our toes into the medium of glass. I’ll go over basics for firing and the material qualities of glass. This opens all sorts of possibilities for printmakers to create layered depth and take advantage of glass’ transparent and sometimes atmospheric qualities.

Together with Stefanie Dykes at Saltgrass Printmakers, we will demonstrate the screen-printing process, talk about materials, and answer questions about fusing the enamels.

Demonstration fee: $25.00 (suggested donation)

Email Stefanie Dykes to RSVP (not required but it would be nice to know how many were coming)

Inez Garcia earned a B.F.A. degree from Alfred University SOAD with a concentration in glass. She teamed up with Stefanie Dykes from Saltgrass Printmaking to transfer her knowledge of glass to printmaking.
